NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's team basketball team's 2025-26 roster continues to take shape, signing former Wagner forward Keyontae Lewis on Monday.
Lewis brings postseason experience to the Spartans, playing a key role in the Seahawks' 2024 Cinderella run.
No. 6 seed Wagner shocked the Northeast Conference (NEC) during the 2023-24 conference tournament, upsetting each of the league's top three teams to win the title and clinch an NCAA Tournament berth. Lewis, who started all 33 games for the Seahawks that season, pulled down 12 rebounds in the championship game to help his team lift the trophy.
The team kept the momentum going, earning a 71-68 NCAA Tournament First Four victory over 2024 MEAC champion Howard, fueled by 10 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks from Lewis. The 6-9 forward scored in double figures once again against No. 1 seed North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament First Round, tallying 13 points and four rebounds on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting day.
A Chesterfield, Va. product, Lewis attended Lloyd C Bird High School where he was a dominant presence in the paint. He earned First-Team All-Region honors while averaging a double-double, scoring 29 points and grabbing 16 rebounds against Matoaca and recording 16 points and 16 rebounds against Varina.
He also played for New World AAU, leading the team to a 3SSB Addidas Championship.
Norfolk State comes off another historic season, winning the 2024-25 MEAC Tournament and Regular Season Championships. The Spartans made their fourth-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with three coming during head coach
Robert Jones' time at the helm.
