NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State men's basketball head coach
Robert Jones has pieced together one of the deepest backcourts in the conference this offseason.
The Spartans added to the strong position group on Monday, signing former New Hampshire guard Anthony McComb III.
A proven scorer, McComb powered the Wildcats' offense last year with the ability to punish opponents from multiple spots on the floor. Averaging 12.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, he knocked down 39 3-pointers while getting to the free throw line at a frequent rate.
McComb exploded for 24 points on a 9-of-13 shooting day against UMass Boston, scoring 17 points against 2024 national champion UConn just a few days later. Over a seven-game stretch in November, the 6-3 guard averaged 18.4 points per contest.
Prior to attending New Hampshire, McComb spent two years at Bowling Green. He provided a key boost of the bench for the Falcons, scoring a season-best 15 points against Bellarmine as a sophomore.
A Dayton, Ohio native, McComb played three seasons at Thurgood Marshall High School before playing his final season at Trotwood Madison. He averaged 26.6 points per game with Trotwood, after earning All-Ohio honorable mention accolades at Thurgood Marshall. Across his high school career, McComb led his teams to two City League championships and a district title.
Norfolk State comes off another historic season, winning the 2024-25 MEAC Tournament and Regular Season Championships. The Spartans made their fourth-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with three coming during Jones' time at the helm.
