PISCATAWAY, N.J.--- Norfolk State faces its first road test of the season on Saturday, visiting SHI Stadium to take on Rutgers at 3:30 p.m.
The Spartans (1-1) aim to hand the Scarlet Knights (2-0) their first loss while seeking the program's first-ever win against an FBS opponent. The teams last met in 2015, when Rutgers won 63-13.
Quarterback
Otto Kuhns powered a fourth-quarter comeback in last week's 34-31 overtime victory against Virginia State, completing 13 of 20 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Senior running back
Kevon King led the ground attack with nine carries for 64 yards.
Defensively,
Ty Jones tallied a team-high seven tackles.
Major Dillard,
Antwan Davis and
Kendric Nowling each added six. Freshman kicker
Evan Helfrich drilled the game-winning 29-yard field goal in overtime, earning MEAC Specialist of the Week honors.
Saturday's game will air live on the Big Ten Network, with Jason Horowitz, Matt Millen and Caroline Hendershot on the call.
