NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) released its preseason predicted order of finish for women's tennis ahead of the upcoming season, which begins later this month. The Norfolk State Spartans were tabbed sixth in the preseason poll as voted on by the league's head coaches and sport information directors.
Norfolk State is coming off a 12–12 overall campaign in 2024–25, posting a 3–3 mark in MEAC play and advancing to the semifinals of the MEAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament.
The Spartans return five key contributors from last season's roster, highlighted by Yuliya Yurkova, the reigning MEAC Individual Women's Tennis Champion from the fall. She is joined by Angelina Maniawska, Irina Iurae, Sabina Iurea, and Ines Sabadie, providing the Spartans with a strong mix of experience and continuity entering the new year.
Norfolk State opens the 2026 spring slate on Saturday, Jan. 24, hosting Mississippi State University at the Old Dominion Indoor Tennis Courts.
