Norfolk State Women’s Tennis Opener Postponed Due to Weather

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women's tennis season opener against Mississippi State, originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Old Dominion Indoor Tennis Courts, has been postponed due to the projected weather conditions in the region this weekend. A makeup date will be announced at a later time.

Norfolk State enters the 2026 spring campaign after a 2024–25 season highlighted by a third-place finish in the MEAC with a 12–12 overall record including a 3–3 mark in conference play. The Spartans also made a semifinal appearance at the MEAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament.

The Spartans return five key contributors from last season's roster, led by reigning MEAC Individual Women's Tennis Champion Yuliya Yurkova. She is joined by Angelina Maniawska, Irina Iurae, Sabina Iurea, and Ines Sabadie, providing a strong core of experience and continuity heading into the new season.
