Leaks Leads Spartans in Road Loss at Howard

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Norfolk State men's basketball team dropped an 88-60 decision to Howard University on Saturday afternoon at Burr Gymnasium.

With the loss, Norfolk State falls to 10-14 overall and 3-4 in MEAC play, while Howard improves to 13-9 overall and 3-3 in conference action.

Jordan Leaks led the Spartans with 13 points, turning in a perfect shooting performance by going 5-of-5 from the field, 1-of-1 from three-point range, and 2-of-2 at the free throw line. Anthony McComb III added 11 points as the only other Spartan to reach double figures.

Howard jumped out to a quick start, scoring the game's first seven points before Elijah Jamison converted a layup to put Norfolk State on the board. A dunk by Bryce Harris pushed the Bison lead to 13-5, and a layup by Danas Kazakevicius extended the margin to 24-13.

By the 8:30 mark of the first half, Howard had already attempted 16 free throws, converting 14 of them. The Bison carried a 35-19 advantage into the under-four media timeout following an 11-6 run.

Norfolk State closed the half strong, outscoring Howard 8-7 down the stretch to trim the deficit to 42-28 at the break.

Howard maintained its momentum in the second half, building the lead to as many as 32 points at 83-51. The Bison secured the victory with an 88-60 final score.
