WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team opened the 2026 season with a 7-0 setback at William & Mary on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans picked up their lone victory of the day in doubles play, as the No. 1 pairing of Ines Sabadie and Yuliya Yurkova earned a 6-3 win over William & Mary's Francesca Davis and Tilda Larsson. However, the Tribe captured the remaining two doubles matches to secure the doubles point and take a 1-0 advantage heading into singles competition.
William & Mary maintained its momentum in singles action, claiming all six matches to seal the 7-0 decision. Sabadie battled at the No. 2 spot, taking Larsson to nine games in each set before falling 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 1 singles, Yurkova won two games in each set, while Angelina Maniawska posted the same result at No. 5 singles, but both dropped their matches in straight sets.
