NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State freshman Victoria Jesang has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. Jesang's honor gives the Spartans a sweep of this week's MEAC cross country awards, with Clinton Kipruto taking the men's award.

Jesang (Fr., Kapsabet, Kenya) placed 49th among more than 160 finishers Friday at the Panorama Farms Invitational, hosted by Virginia in Earlysville, Va. She covered the 6,000-meter course in 22:38.4 in a field of 16 scoring teams from the ACC, Big East, CAA, Big Ten and other conferences.

Jesang finished strong over the last kilometer. She was 52nd at the 5K checkpoint and passed three runners on the way to the line. She was Norfolk State's top finisher for the second straight meet.

Virginia Tech won the team title with 20 points, ahead of host Virginia (36). Virginia's Gillian Bushee won the individual race in 20:19.6.
