VIRIGINA BEACH, Va. --- Norfolk State University's men's track and field team turned in multiple top-10 finishes at the Indoor Pre-Nationals Feb. 13–14 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
In the sprints,
Kendrick Winfield placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.49 seconds, and
Christopher Basking followed in sixth at 21.55 seconds.
Antoinne Smith ran 6.84 seconds to finish 10th in the 60 meters.
Donovan Terry earned eighth in the 400 meters at 48.59 seconds, while Winfield also competed to a 12th-place finish in 48.98.
Distance events featured standout performances from Daniel Mathenge, who took second in the 3,000 meters at 8:35.67.
Lewis Too followed closely with a fourth-place finish in 8:37.20,
Mathew Kipkoech placed sixth in 8:41.29, and
Basil Koech earned eighth in 9:13.02.

Norfolk State's field competitors impressed, as
Landon Walker cleared 4.50 meters to place second in the pole vault, and
Christian White reached 3.90 meters for fourth. In the high jump,
Kristopher Stephens finished fifth at 1.93 meters, while
Chazden Wilson tied for 10th at the same mark.
Atrell Williams placed third in the shot put with 16.14 meters, and
Jayshaun Campbell took seventh with 14.14 meters.

The Spartans' 4x400 meter relay team, consisting of
Lavontay Bond,
Shamar Heard, Terry, and Winfield, posted a fourth-place finish in 3:21.08.

Norfolk State will next compete at the MEAC Indoor Championships, Feb. 22–23, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
