BALTIMORE, Md. — The Norfolk State men's basketball team pushed its winning streak to five games with a 75-69 road victory over Coppin State on Saturday afternoon inside PEC Arena. The Spartans improve to 15-14 overall and 8-4 in MEAC play. 

Anthony McComb III paced Norfolk State with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting, going 5-for-7 from the free-throw line. Three additional Spartans reached double figures as Dian Wright-Forde and Elijah Jamison scored 12 points each, while Devon Ellis added 10 points, six rebounds and two steals. 

The teams battled early, trading the lead and tying the score seven times before the Spartans seized control at the 12:53 mark of the first half. A 7-0 surge, highlighted by a Melo Baines layup and finished by an Ellis free throw and driving score, gave NSU a 22-15 advantage. 

A My'kel Jenkins three-pointer restored a seven-point cushion later in the half before McComb scored five straight to make it 30-24 with 4:39 remaining. Norfolk State closed the period on a 12-5 run, with McComb scoring the final eight Spartan points to send NSU into halftime ahead 42-29. 

Coppin State opened the second half with a 13-5 run to cut the deficit to 47-42 with 15:22 to play. The Spartans responded with a 9-3 stretch capped by Jamison free throws, pushing the lead back to double digits at 56-45 near the 12-minute mark. 

The Eagles continued to chip away, trimming the margin to four at 62-58 and later to just three points at 72-69 in the closing minute. Wright-Forde knocked down two free throws with 39 seconds remaining, and after two missed Coppin State three-point attempts, Jamison added a final free throw to seal the 75-69 win.
