NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State softball junior Maddy Morris was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. 

A native of Hampton, Va., Morris delivered a dominant performance in the Spartans' series sweep over Maryland Eastern Shore. She tossed a complete-game shutout in the opening game of the series, striking out eight batters while allowing just four hits. Morris finished the outing with a perfect 0.00 ERA, leading Norfolk State in the circle. 

Norfolk State returns home for a five-game homestand this week, beginning with a midweek doubleheader against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Wednesday, March 25, at 2 and 4 p.m. The Spartans will then host North Carolina Central for a three-game MEAC series over the weekend.
