NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State freshman pitcher Samantha Stevenson earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Stevenson received the honor after tossing a complete-game shutout in the series finale against North Carolina Central, leading the Spartans to a 2-0 victory. She allowed just six hits while striking out two and walking two batters, keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard to secure the win.
Norfolk State returns to action this weekend, traveling to Orangeburg, S.C., for a three-game MEAC series against South Carolina State. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday at 1 and 3 p.m., followed by a 12 p.m. first pitch on Saturday.
