NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tennis Round Up, sweeping Coppin State 7-0 on Monday at the ODU Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

The Spartans controlled the match from start to finish, earning the doubles point before sweeping all six singles matches.

Norfolk State set the tone early in doubles play, securing the opening point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 flights. The tandem of Yuliya Yurkova and Yana Klimchuk earned a 6-2 win at the top position, while Regina Urbiola and Angelina Maniawska clinched the point with a win by forfeit at No. 3.

The Spartans carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches to complete the shutout. Yuliya Yurkova led the way at No. 1 with a three-set thriller, 6-1, 5-7, 10-5, while Regina Urbiola followed with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 2.

Yana Klimchuk continued the strong showing with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3, and Sabina Iurea added a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4. Irena Iurea secured a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5, while Kayla Kennedy rounded out the sweep with a win by forfeit at No. 6.
