The Spartans added another run in the bottom of the sixth when Kailey Bryant delivered a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Peyton Moran and trimming the deficit to 7-4.
Norfolk State continued to battle in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded, Kearney reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Maddy Morris to cross the plate.
