NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State women's tennis freshman Yana Klimchuk has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Klimchuk continued her strong freshman campaign with an undefeated week, going 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles while competing at the No. 4 and No. 3 positions, respectively.
In singles play, Klimchuk earned a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory over George Washington's Alexandra Lindqvist before following with a 6-1, 6-4 win against North Carolina Central's Mariana Zottoli. Her consistent play helped anchor the Spartans in both non-conference and MEAC competition.
In doubles action, Klimchuk teamed with Regina Urbiola to secure a pair of victories. The duo defeated George Washington's Devika Manu and Alexandra Lindqvist 6-3 before earning a 6-2 win over North Carolina Central's Mariana Zottoli and Valeria San Miguel.
Norfolk State returns to action next weekend as the Spartans compete in the 2026 MEAC Tennis Championship.
