Sana’a Garrett Signs with Norfolk State Women’s Basketball

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. --- Norfolk State women's basketball head coach Jermaine Woods announced on Thursday morning that Sana'a Garrett has signed with the program.

"Sana'a will bring significant depth to our lead guard position," Woods said. "She's a skilled floor general and leader who embodies intensity on defense, aligning with our team's culture. I'm thrilled to welcome her to our program."

The 5-foot-7 guard from Philadelphia played at Hofstra last season, averaging 2.7 points, 1.8 assists and 1.3 rebounds per game. She shot 37.1% from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range. Garrett scored a season-high 11 points in 22 minutes against UNCW, shooting 5-for-6 from the floor.

"I chose Norfolk State because of the relationship I built with Coach Woods and the coaching staff," Garrett said. "It felt like home and exactly where I needed to be."

Before Hofstra, Garrett spent two seasons at Jacksonville. She averaged 7.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game as a sophomore. As a freshman, she ranked third in the ASUN with 56 steals and shot 45.5% from the field.

Garrett attended Friends Central High School in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, where she earned first-team all-league honors twice and received honorable mention as a freshman.

Norfolk State finished the 2024-25 season with an 18-15 record, marking its fifth consecutive appearance in the MEAC championship game and the program's second WNIT berth. The Spartans also ranked second nationally in field goal percentage defense and third in 3-point field goal percentage defense.
