PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --- The Norfolk State men's track and field team recorded strong finishes at the Penn Relays on Friday and Saturday.

Kristopher Stephens led the Spartans in the field events, placing second in the triple jump with a mark of 15.35 meters. He also cleared 1.96 meters in the high jump to finish 14th.

The 4x100-meter relay team of
Jaycob Linsey,
Christopher Basking,
Julian Ward and
Kendrick Winfield clocked 40.02 in the prelims to place eighth.

The 4x400-meter relay team of
Lavontay Bond,
Donovan Terry,
Vincent Bond Jr. and Ward ran 3:08.99, finishing 13th in a 23-team field.

Basking paced the Spartans in the sprints, placing 22nd in the 100-meter prelims with a time of 10.52.
Atrell Williams took 25th in the shot put with a throw of 15.26 meters.

Norfolk State will spend the next three weeks preparing to defend its MEAC Outdoor Championship title. The meet will take place May 14-16 at William "Dick" Price Stadium in Norfolk, Va.
