NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State freshman pitcher Samantha Stevenson earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Stevenson delivered a strong performance in the circle, tossing a complete game to lead the Spartans. She pitched 7.0 innings, allowing just two runs on eight hits while striking out two and issuing three walks.

The freshman faced 33 batters in the outing and induced 12 groundouts compared to six flyouts, helping control the tempo and limit scoring opportunities throughout the game.

Norfolk State returns to action next week at the 2026 MEAC Softball Tournament, hosted by the Spartans at TowneBank Field. Norfolk State enters as the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 seed Morgan State in its opening game.
