MANATÍ, Puerto Rico – Norfolk State bounced back in dramatic fashion Thursday evening, holding off the LBP White All-Stars for an 82-81 victory in its second game of the 2026 San Juan Shootout at Coliseo de Manatí.

Anthony McComb III powered the Spartans with a game-high 30 points, shooting 9-of-15 from the field, 5-of-8 from 3-point range and a perfect 7-of-7 at the free-throw line. He also added five rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Jordan Skyers bounced back with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Elijah Jamison added 10 points. Jamese Jordan contributed six points and seven rebounds, and Dramane Camara controlled the glass with a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with five points.

"That was a tough-fought win on the 'road'!" Norfolk State head coach Robert Jones said. "Another standout performance from Anthony McComb. However, a bounce-back performance for Jordan Skyers and then a timely go-ahead basket by Justin Jones with under two minutes left helped seal the game. I'm proud of our performance today through extreme hostility."

Norfolk State came out firing, opening the game with 28 first-quarter points while holding LBP to 20. The Spartans maintained their advantage through the second period, taking a 47-40 lead into halftime.

The Spartans shot 40.6 percent from the floor in the opening half and knocked down six 3-pointers, while also converting 15-of-17 attempts from the free-throw line.

Norfolk State stretched its lead to as many as 16 points during the contest, but LBP gradually chipped away at the advantage after halftime. The All-Stars outscored NSU 21-19 in the third quarter before closing the gap further in the final period.

With LBP making its push down the stretch, Justin Jones delivered one of the biggest baskets of the night, putting Norfolk State back in front with under two minutes remaining. The Spartans held on from there, surviving the late charge to secure the one-point victory.

LBP outscored Norfolk State 20-16 in the fourth quarter, but the Spartans did enough in the closing minutes to preserve the 82-81 win.

Norfolk State finished the game shooting 41.9 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from beyond the arc. The Spartans were especially effective at the charity stripe, connecting on 19-of-23 attempts for 82.6 percent.

The Spartans also dominated the rebounding battle, 46-33, including a 14-8 advantage on the offensive glass. Norfolk State turned those extra opportunities into 14 second-chance points while limiting LBP to four.

NSU's perimeter shooting proved to be another major difference in the game. The Spartans knocked down 11 3-pointers compared to four for LBP, resulting in a 33-12 advantage in points from beyond the arc.

Despite committing 22 turnovers and surrendering 25 points off those miscues, Norfolk State overcame the disparity with its work on the glass, free-throw shooting and production from long range.
