Biography

    2008 (Junior): Started all 12 games as NSU’s strong safety…finished third on the squad and tied for 25th in the conference with 64 total tackles…also tallied eight tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries…deflected six passes, second on the team…blocked a pair of extra points at Bethune-Cookman…had a career-high 10 tackles on two occasions, against North Carolina A&T and at Hampton…added three tackles for loss, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble against N.C. A&T…also recovered a fumble at South Carolina State to set up an NSU touchdown…recorded eight tackles, one sack and one forced fumble vs. Florida A&M…made four tackles and deflected two passes against Morgan State…had seven solo tackles, two for loss, in the finale against Winston-Salem State…had a key fourth-quarter sack against WSSU that helped preserve NSU’s win. 
     2007 (Sophomore): Played in eight games…appeared as a backup defensive back and as one of the Spartans’ key special teamers…made 10 tackles on the year, four solo and six assisted…was in on one tackle for loss on the season, against Virginia State…tackled the VSU punter for a 30-yard loss, setting up a Spartans’ field goal…blocked a punt in the second quarter against Winston-Salem State, leading to an NSU touchdown…made three tackles against both Rutgers and North Carolina A&T. 
    2006 (Freshman): Saw the field in all 11 games, mostly on special teams…also played some as a backup defensive back…was in on 10 tackles, nine of them solo…had four solo tackles against North Carolina A&T…blocked a punt which led to a second-quarter touchdown in the win over Virginia State…deflected one pass in reserve secondary duty in the win over Winston-Salem State. 
    2005: Attended NSU, but sat out the season. 
    High School: A three-year letterwinner…played outside linebacker, running back and cornerback…helped the Hornets to three straight Eastern Region playoff appearances…named the team’s top defensive back as a senior…also played varsity basketball as a sophomore and ran track as a freshman. 
    Personal: Joshua Anderson was born on December 13, 1986…son of James and Brenda Anderson…majoring in accounting…older brother, Roy, was a three-year letterwinner on the NSU football team from 2004-06…another older brother, James, was a standout linebacker at Virginia Tech and currently plays for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.
