Biography

    2008 (Junior): Named to the All-MEAC first team…made 11 of his 21 field goals…connected on four field goals of at least 40 yards, the most by any MEAC kicker…was fifth in the MEAC in scoring (68 points, 5.7 per game) and third among kickers…one of only two conference kickers to make all of his PAT attempts, Castellat was a perfect 35-for-35…connected on a 43-yard field goal vs. N.C. A&T, a 45-yarder at William & Mary, a career-long 49-yarder at Bethune-Cookman, and a 44-yarder at S.C. State…hit 3-of-4 field goals at SCSU…also assisted on four tackles on special teams. 
     2007 (Sophomore): An All-MEAC second team performer…was 27-of-30 on extra points and connected on 15 field goals in 25 attempts…made 13 of his 16 field goal attempts from inside 40 yards… was second in the MEAC and tied for 14th nationally in field goals made (1.36 per game)…ranked seventh in the MEAC in scoring (6.5 points per game)…was 4-for-4 on field goals, with his season long of 42 yards, in the opener against Virginia State…was named MEAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his effort against VSU…made all three of his field goals (with a long of 38 yards) and was 5-for-6 on extra points in the win over North Carolina A&T…made two field goals against both South Carolina State and Florida A&M…also served as the team’s punter at Rutgers due to an injury to normal punter Brian Jackson…punted five times for a 35-yard average in that game…also made three tackles on the season. 
    2006 (Freshman): Saw action in every game…served as the team’s holder for extra points and field goals…handled all placekicking duties in the finale against Winston-Salem State…connected on his only field goal attempt, from 21 yards out…was also 4-of-4 on extra point attempts in that game. 
    High School: Lettered four years in football and soccer…second-team All-Beach District kicker as a senior…made seven field goals as a senior with a long of 42 yards…longest field goal in high school was 47 yards…was soccer team’s Offensive MVP all four years.     
    Personal: Justin Alan Castellat…born June 21, 1988… son of David Thornton and Giselle Castellat…majoring in computer science.
