Biography

2007-08 (Junior Year)
Started 30 of 31 games, finishing second on the team in scoring at 13.9 points per game… connected on 45 percent of his shots from the floor and 76 from the free-throw line... averaged 14.2 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the floor in MEAC games…ranked 10th in the MEAC in scoring and 11th in field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage and minutes played (31.5)…pulled down 123 rebounds (4.0 per game), good for third on the team…scored in double figures 24 times and hit the 20-point mark five times…scored 25 points and made five 3-pointers, both season highs, in the loss at Central Florida (11-16-07)…scored in double figures in nine straight games, a career-long streak, from Dec. 22 to Jan. 28…registered consecutive 20-point games for the first time in his career with 21 at Jacksonville State (12-29-07) and 22 against North Carolina Central (1-7-08)…was 8-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-8 from 3-point range in the win over N.C. Central… blocked a personal-best three shots in the win over Coppin State (1-12-08)…also scored 20 points in the win over Morgan State (1-14-08) and added 23 at South Carolina State (2-23-08)…grabbed a season-high nine rebounds twice, against Howard (2-4-08) and South Carolina State (2-23-08), tying a career best… had three steals against Longwood (11-13-07) and South Carolina State (2-23-08)…played a season-high 43 minutes in the overtime win over Bethune-Cookman (2-9-08)…either led or tied for the team-lead in scoring eight times.

2006-07 (Sophomore Year)
Started all 30 games…named the team’s Most Improved Player…averaged 9.1 points per game, good for fourth on the team…scored 10.7 ppg in MEAC play…shot 46.5 percent from the floor…scored in double figures 12 times…had three games with at least 20 points and two more with 19…poured in a career-high 29 points and made a personal-best 5-of-9 from behind the arc in the double-overtime loss to North Carolina A&T (2-24-07)…also registered a career-high nine rebounds and tied his career-best with four assists in that game…scored a team-high 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting at Florida A&M (1-6-07)…had 20 points and made 7-of-11 from the foul line in the win over Bethune-Cookman (2-5-07)…had 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor at Morgan State (2-12-07)…also scored 19 points in the first round MEAC Tournament win over Maryland Eastern Shore (3-7-07).

2005-06 (Freshman Year)
Lyons saw time in 14 games…averaged 3.6 points per game and shot 40.5 percent (17-of-42) from the floor on the season… shot 3-of-7 from behind the arc for the season, and averaged almost one steal per game… saw his most extensive action of the year in the final six games, averaging more than 15 minutes per game during that stretch…in his first action in more than a month, Lyons scored a season-high 19 points in 22 minutes off the bench at North Carolina A&T…was 5-of-7 from the floor (2-of-3 on 3-pointers) and made 7-of-8 free throws in the game…also had a season-high four steals against the Aggies…followed up that performance with two consecutive 10-point games, at South Carolina State (2-27-06) and vs. Bethune-Cookman (3-1-06)…played a total of 31 minutes in NSU’s three MEAC Tournament games.

High School
Was a two-year letterwinner…averaged 15 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game as a senior…was a second-team All-Manhattan selection by The Daily News and Newsday as a senior, when he helped FDA to a 27-6 record and a berth in the city tournament’s final four…FDA went undefeated in its division both of his years on the varsity…averaged 20 points per game as a junior.

Born Corey Darnell Lyons on June 5, 1987…son of Willie Lyons and Vicki Brown…majoring in business management…plans to own a hotel or club.
