Started every game … Earned first-team All-MEAC honors … Named the MEAC Offensive Player of the Year, NSU’s first since 2011 … Led the MEAC in total offense (2,901 yards), passing yards (2,511), passing touchdowns (21) and touchdowns responsible for (27) … Graduated as NSU’s all-time leader in passing yards, total offense, completions and attempts … Four-time MEAC Player of the Week winner, following games with Wake Forest, Elizabeth City State, Hampton and Morgan State … Threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns in the game at nationally-ranked Wake Forest … Tossed a career-high five touchdown passes and was 23-of-30 for 353 yards against Elizabeth City … Accounted for five touchdowns, including the game-winning 1-yard run in OT, in the victory over Hampton … Passed for 294 yards and ran for a season-high 92 yards in that game … Passed for 22 yards, ran for 52 and accounted for three touchdowns in roughly one half of play against Virginia Lynchburg … Completed 26-of-29 passes, including a school-record 21 in a row, for 332 yards at Howard … Logged a season-high 368 passing yards and three scores in the win at Morgan State … Was 22-of-36 for 155 yards at N.C. Compiled one of the best seasons by a quarterback in NSU history … Earned second-team All-MEAC honors, NSU’s first All-MEAC quarterback since 2011 (Chris Walley) … Led the MEAC in total passing yards (2,631), total offensive yards (2,856) and touchdown responsibility (29) … Tied for the MEAC lead with 23 touchdown passes, the most by a QB in NSU’s Division I history and third-most all-time in program history … His total offensive yards and passing yards totals are both fourth-most in school history … Started all 12 games but missed the final three quarters of the season finale due to an injury … Did not throw an interception in the final six games … Completed 60.6 percent of his passes with a 146.5 efficiency rating … Nationally, ranked in the top 40 among Division I FCS quarterbacks in efficiency (18th), points responsible for (26th), passing TDs (27th), yards per completion (27th), passing yards (38th) and completion percentage (39th) … Had eight games with at least 200 passing yards and three with 300 or more … Threw at least one touchdown pass in all 11 games he completed … MEAC Offensive Player of the Week after the wins over Virginia State, Howard and Morgan State … Passed for 199 yards, rushed for 51 and accounted for three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) in the opener at Old Dominion … Threw for 203 yards and a career-high tying four touchdowns in the win over VSU … Threw for 243 yards and two scores at No. 8 Montana State … That was the first of seven consecutive games in which Carter passed for at least 200 yards … Passed for 308 yards and a score in a narrow loss to Florida A&M … Had 252 passing yards, a TD pass and a touchdown run against North Carolina A&T … Accounted for a career high six touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) in the win at Howard – the most TDs by a Spartan signal-caller since Walley in 2011 … Passed for a season-high 377 yards and four touchdowns on just 15 completions in that game (25.1 yards per completion) … Also ran eight times for 56 yards and two scores against the Bison … Amassed 221 passing yards at Bethune-Cookman … Passed for 314 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a score in the win over Morgan State … Also tossed two TD passes in back-to-back wins at North Carolina Central and Delaware State … Accounted for 249 passing yards at NCCU and 226 total yards (182 passing, 44 rushing) at Delaware State.

Played and started in 10 games … Missed only the JMU game … Completed 187 of 322 passes for 2,302 yards and 13 touchdowns … Also rushed for 223 yards and two touchdowns … Ranked second in the MEAC in passing yards per game (230.2) and total offense per game (252.5) … His 2,302 passing yards and 2,525 yards of total offense both rank fifth on NSU’s single-season school records lists … Also ranked 23rd nationally in completions per game (18.7) and 26th in passing yards per game … Passed for 185 yards and a touchdown in the season-opening victory over Virginia State … Passed for 281 yards and a score and also ran for a touchdown in the win at S.C. State … Completed 22-of-31 passes (season-high 71 percent) and threw three touchdown passes in the win over Delaware State … Also ran for 37 yards and a score against DSU, finishing with 355 total yards to earn MEAC Offensive Player of the Week honors … Passed for 212 yards at FAMU and 186 with one touchdown against North Carolina A&T … Ran for a career-high 63 yards at Savannah State, 47 coming on one career-long rush … Accounted for 297 yards of total offense to earn another MEAC Offensive Player of the Week award against Howard … Completed 23 of 35 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns in that game … Followed that up by throwing for a career-high 467 yards and three touchdowns in a loss to Morgan State … Completed a season-high 28 passes (in 44 attempts) in that game … The 467 yards are the third-most in a single game in NSU history and most in the school’s Division I era … That also represented the most passing yards by a MEAC quarterback and the No. 12 mark for all FCS quarterbacks in 2018.
2017 (Freshman)
Saw time in all 11 games as a true freshman … Started the final nine games of the year at quarterback, beginning with the game at No. 1 James Madison … After splitting time with Tripp Harrington in the first three games of the year, Carter took the vast majority of the snaps in the final eight games … Named the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division State Rookie of the Year … Was a two-time MEAC Rookie of the Week selection, following wins over Florida A&M and N.C. Central … Passed for 1,827 yards and 13 touchdowns against just six interceptions … Also ran for 139 yards and two more scores … Ranked sixth in the MEAC in passing yards (166.1 ypg) and eighth in total offense (178.7 ypg) … In conference-only games, ranked fourth among MEAC quarterbacks in passing yards (198.6) and in total offense (210.8) … Came off the bench to complete 11-of-19 passes for 160 yards against William & Mary … In his second career start, completed 28-of-46 passes for 292 yards (all season highs) and two touchdowns in the win at Delaware State … Also threw two touchdowns in the win over Florida A&M and two more in the loss to Hampton … Passed for 164 yards against FAMU and 211 vs. Hampton … Was 18-of-32 for 230 yards and a season-high four touchdowns in the win over N.C.
