Biography

    2007 (Junior): Started all 11 games at cornerback…named to the All-MEAC second team…made 48 total tackles, fifth on the team…tied for fourth in the MEAC with three interceptions…also had eight pass deflections…his 11 passes defended were tied for third-most in the MEAC…made several game-altering or game-saving plays during the season…blocked the potential tying extra point with 27 seconds left in NSU’s 20-19 win over Hampton…had two interceptions, his first career multi-interception game, a week later at Florida A&M…returned one of those interceptions 61 yards inside the FAMU 10-yard line, setting up NSU’s go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter…his second interception came on FAMU’s final possession of the game, clinching the Spartans’ 33-27 victory…also intercepted a pass in the end zone during the fourth quarter of NSU’s win at Morgan State…finished with nine tackles and two pass deflections in that game…posted a career-high 11 tackles, one for loss, at Delaware State…helped limit preseason MEAC Offensive Player of the Year Shaheer McBride of Delaware State to four catches for 16 yards…selected as NSU’s recipient of the Army Strong Award, given to the football player who best exemplifies community service and achievement on the field and in the classroom…selected to the NSU and MEAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Teams. 
    2006 (Sophomore): Emerged as one of NSU’s most versatile and valuable defensive backs… saw time at safety and cornerback…played in 10 games, starting seven…missed the game with Howard due to an ankle injury… made 27 total tackles, 18 solo…had four pass breakups and one interception…had four tackles and forced a fumble in the opener with Virginia State…intercepted a pass, broke up another and made a season-high seven tackles at Bethune-Cookman…had two solo tackles and two pass deflections in his first career start at cornerback in the season finale with Winston-Salem State… selected to the NSU and MEAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Teams. 
    2005 (Freshman): Saw the most action of any 2005 freshman on defense…played in every game and started the final 10 of the season at free safety…was fourth on the team with 62 tackles, 32 solo…was named MEAC Rookie of the Week after he forced a fumble, had his first career interception and made five tackles, one for a loss, in the season-ending win over Liberty…had seven pass breakups for the season…tied for sixth in the MEAC in fumble recoveries (two)…had nine tackles and recovered a fumble at FAMU…also had nine tackles against both North Carolina A&T and Delaware State. 
    High School: A two-year varsity player at Booker T. Washington…was a second-team All-Eastern District pick as a senior, when he tied for the team-lead with eight interceptions…was also a successful receiver and kick returner for the Bookers…scored six total touchdowns as a senior, five on receptions and one on a punt return…had 23 receptions for the season, including two for touchdowns in an Eastern Region playoff game…had the second-highest GPA on the team and graduated with honors. 
    Personal: Don Juan Carey III…born February 14, 1987…son of William and Karen Robinson…academic major is building construction technology.
