Norfolk State University Athletics

    2008 (Junior): Saw time in all 12 games…started the first two contests of the year, against Virginia State and Kentucky, at inside linebacker…tallied 14 tackles for the season, eight of them solo…made a career-best six tackles, one for a loss, against VSU…also had one quarterback pressure and one pass deflection in that game. 
    2007 (Sophomore): Appeared in 10 games as a reserve inside linebacker…started once, against Florida A&M…made 12 tackles for the year, five of them solo…made two stops, including half of a tackle for loss, against South Carolina State…had three tackles against Hampton…deflected a pass against Winston-Salem State. 
    2006 (Freshman): Played in all 11 games, mostly on special teams…also saw some time off the bench at inside linebacker…made six tackles, five solo, on the year…had his first career sack against North Carolina A&T…made two total tackles against Winston-Salem State. 
    High School: Played three years of varsity football…attended Norview High School in Norfolk as a sophomore and Hampton High School as a junior and senior…was a two-way lineman on Hampton’s state Group AAA championship team as a senior in 2005…tallied 88 tackles, 11 sacks and five forced fumbles as a senior. 
    Personal: Shawn B. Childress…born July 19, 1988…son of Shawn King and Cathy Childress…majoring in architectural drafting…identical twin brother, Sherron, also plays for NSU.
