Norfolk State University Athletics

2007: Played in seven games, either on special teams or as a fullback … Did not attempt any rushes, but recovered a teammate’s fumble for a touchdown in the win at Florida A&M … Made two tackles for the year on special teams.
    2006: Usually the first inside linebacker off the NSU bench, Sawyer played in all 11 games…was fifth on the team in total tackles, with 42…had 16 solo stops and 26 assisted tackles…had 6.5 tackles for losses and three sacks…also was credited with one quarterback hurry…posted six tackles, 1.5 for lost yardage, and a sack at South Carolina State…made four tackles and two sacks at Hampton…had a career-high 11 tackles and forced a fumble vs. Delaware State. 
    2005: Played in six games…playing time was split between special teams coverage units and reserve linebacker duty…made four tackles on the year, three of them solo. 
    2004: Sat out the season. 
    High School: First-team All-Beach District and All-Tidewater pick as a senior, when he helped the team to the state Group AAA Division 6 state championship game…made 110 tackles and added five sacks and three forced fumbles as a junior.
