Biography

Baker lettered two years in football at NSU and was an All-CIAA performer as a defensive lineman in 1963 ... Was selected in the 19th round of the 1964 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, making him the first NSU and CIAA player to be drafted by an NFL team ... Baker was also the first NSU athlete to ever play professionally, with stints with the Montreal Alouettes on the Canadian Football League from 1964-69, with the New York Giants of the NFL from 1970-71, and then for multiple teams in the World Football League thereafter ... In his pro career, Baker played defensive line and also served as a kicker at times for the Alouettes ... Scored 66 points in his professional career ... Was credited with three interceptions and five fumble recoveries in his CFL career ... Played 14 games with the NFL's New York Giants in 1970 ... Was a 2004 inductee into the NSUAF Sports Hall of Fame.
