A standout defensive back for the NSU football team ... Named a Pittsburgh Courier Black College All-American as a senior in 1971 ... Selected in the fifth round of the 1972 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots ... Played 11 seasons in the NFL, four with the Patriots (1972-75) and seven with the Cleveland Browns (1976-82) ... helped Cleveland win the AFC Central Division title in 1980 and earn a playoff berth ... had 35 career interceptions in the NFL, with a career-best seven in 1974 with New England ... a 1995 NSU Athletics Foundation Sports Hall of Fame inductee ... has held assistant football coaching positions at NSU, Howard and Delaware State and was head coach at Booker T. Washington High in Norfolk for a brief time.
