After a one-year hiatus, former Spartan offensive lineman Calton Ford returns to the NSU football coaching staff to coach the tight ends. In his first stint on staff, he coached the tight ends and offensive tackles in 2012.
Ford was a four-year letterwinner at NSU from 2007-10. He started 43 of the 45 games he played in a Spartan uniform, which included a streak of 30 in a row to end his career. Ford, who played both guard and tackle at NSU, was a second-team All-MEAC performer as a junior in 2009 when he helped the Spartans finished third in the conference in both scoring and total offense.
As a senior in 2010, Ford was part of an offensive line that helped running back DeAngelo Branche become the school’s all-time leading rusher.
After his NSU career, Ford signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns. He participated with the team during its 2011 preseason schedule.
A native of Chesapeake and graduate of Indian River High School, Ford earned his bachelor’s degree in building construction from NSU in 2012.
