Justin Williamson

Justin Williamson is in his fourth season on the NSU coaching staff. He coaches the Spartans’ defensive line after coaching the tight ends in his first season with the team. Williamson also serves as the program’s recruiting coordinator.

Williamson tutored two All-MEAC performers in 2019. Ends Chris Myers and De’Shaan Dixon both earned third-team All-MEAC accolades after spearheading a strong Spartan pass rush. After notching just three sacks in the first six games, the Spartans racked up 23 in the final six contests to finish with 26 on the year – the most by a Spartan defense since 2014. That included an eight-sack game in the win at North Carolina Central, the most by an NSU team since 2012. Myers led the team with 9.0 sacks, which tied for the MEAC lead.

Williamson came to NSU after a stellar playing career at the University of Richmond, where he was a four-year letterwinner from 2011-14. Williamson played defensive end for the Spiders. As a senior in 2014, Williamson was a third-team All-CAA pick and team captain for a Richmond team that advanced to the NCAA FCS playoffs. Williamson had 62 tackles and nine sacks that season. He also helped the Spiders win the CAA title in 2012.

Williamson, a native of Hampton, Virginia, was a two-way starter and all-region lineman at Phoebus High School, which won three state championships during his prep career.

Williamson earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Richmond in 2015.
