Kresean Reed is in his first season as safeties coach at Norfolk State University.
Reed joins the Spartan staff after a two-year stint at the University of Arkansas, where he served as a graduate assistant defensive backs coach. He assisted with coaching the Razorbacks’ defensive backs and special teams units on the field, while also creating scouting reports on opponents. In 2020, Arkansas ranked second in the SEC and 13th nationally in interceptions and had a pair of All-SEC selections from their defensive backfield.
Prior to his time at Arkansas, Reed was a graduate assistant at Midwestern State University in Texas. He also worked with the defensive backs at MSU, helping the Mustangs rank third in the Lone Star Conference in interceptions in 2018.
Reed got his coaching start at Phoenix College, serving as defensive backs coach and later defensive coordinator. At one point during his tenure, Phoenix earned the No. 7 national ranking in the NJCAA.
Reed has also worked with USA Football since 2017. He has coached FBS athletes at the World Championship tournament in Mexico, coached in multiple regional combines and has helped USA Football win three international bowl games.
Reed earned his a bachelor’s degree in business management from Adams State in 2015 and his master’s in human resources from Arkansas in 2021.
Reed was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He was a standout player at Adams State University, earning second-team all-conference honors in 2014.
