2009 (Junior)
Made an immediate impact for NSU after transferring from Akron…started three times as NSU’s nickelback and played in all 11 games…made 20 tackles on the year and intercepted three passes…made three tackles in a game five times…had half a tackle for loss at N.C. A&T and one against South Carolina State…intercepted passes against Virginia State, Bethune-Cookman and Winston-Salem State…also recovered a fumble against VSU…his pick against Winston-Salem killed the Rams’ last drive and preserved NSU’s win. 

At Akron
Played in one game in 2007, on special teams…missed much of 2008 with an injury. 

High School
A two-sport standout who helped lead Kempsville High School to an 8-2 record in both his junior and senior seasons…amassed four interceptions and scored four touchdowns as a senior…in track, was a state qualifier in the 100m (10.8) and 200m (21.9) as a junior…finished fifth in the state in the 100 as a senior.

Anthony Dante Barnes was born on January 29, 1988…goes by Dante…son of Michael and Angela Barnes…academic major is mass communication.
