Biography

2016 (Senior)
Played in all 11 games … Started seven times at tailback, all coming in the final eight games of the season … Was NSU’s leading rusher among running backs with 89 carries for 419 yards and two touchdowns … Also a valuable receiver, Johnson tied for second on the squad with 27 catches and was third on the team with 260 receiving yards … Caught one TD pass … Was second on the team with 751 all-purpose yards … Had his only 100-yard rushing game of the year in the finale against Hampton, tallying exactly 100 yards on just seven carries … Scored the go-ahead touchdown in that game with an 80-yard touchdown run with 8:37 left to play … Also caught two passes for 32 yards in the win over Hampton to win Battle of the Bay Offensive MVP honors … Had 10 rushes for 69 yards against N.C. Central … Scored on a 5-yard TD reception against Morgan State … Rushed 12 times for 53 yards and a touchdown (17-yard run) at Savannah State.

2015 (Junior)
Played in nine games and started eight times during his first season at NSU … Suffered a knee injury during the Savannah State (ninth) game of the season and missed the final two games … Led the team in rushing at the time of his injury … Paced all NSU running backs with 118 carries for 418 yards and one touchdown … Also made 18 receptions for 213 yards and two scores … Averaged 46.4 rushing yards per game and 3.5 per carry … Finished second on the team in total all-purpose yards (631) and first in all-purpose yards per game (70.1) … Caught four passes at Old Dominion … Rushed for 34 yards and tallied 65 receiving yards with a touchdown at Marshall … Caught a 40-yard pass from Greg Hankerson on the game’s first drive, then later ended the same drive a 14-yard TD reception against the Thundering Herd … Rushed for a season-high 119 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries against Hampton … Also caught two passes for 27 yards in that game … Had his second 100-yard rushing game of the year at Bethune-Cookman … Ran 17 times for 103 yards and caught three passes for 75 yards and a touchdown at B-CU … Scored on a 58-yard reception against the Wildcats … Also rushed 17 times for 53 yards at N.C. Central and caught three passes for 24 yards at N.C. Central … Named to the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for the spring semester.

At ODU (Freshman/Sophomore)
In two years at ODU, Johnson rushed for 865 yards and six touchdowns and amassed 1,135 all-purpose yards … Was ODU's No. 2 rusher as a sophomore in 2014, running for 493 yards and one touchdown on 100 carries … Also caught 24 passes for 149 yards … Ran for a season-high 137 yards and a TD in the season-opening win over Hampton his sophomore year … Also ran for 85 yards against Eastern Michigan, 76 against Marshall and 60 at N.C. State … Ran for 372 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman, earning Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division Rookie of the Year accolades … Had his first career 100-yard game as a collegian as a freshman against NSU, running 17 times for 101 yards … Also ran for a career-high 143 yards at UNC to cap his freshman year … Ran for two touchdowns against both Howard and Campbell.

A four-year letterwinner in football, Johnson was rated a two-star recruit by ESPN.com coming out of Meadowbrook … Played quarterback for Meadowbrook, where he passed for 1,592 yards and 27 touchdowns and ran for another 1,204 yards as a senior … Was a two-time first-team All-Metro pick and was Central District Offensive Player of the Year as a senior … Also earned third-team all-state recognition as a senior … Was also an academic all-district and all-region selection … Also played baseball, basketball and ran track for MHS … Coached by Troy Taylor.
