Biography

2014 (Senior): Started nine games and appeared in all 12 as a senior … was third on the team in receptions (16) and second in receiving yards (250) … caught two TD passes … caught two passes for 35 yards in the season’s first six games, but had a strong second half of the season … had 14 catches for 215 yards over the final six games of the year … had four catches for 29 yards against Delaware State … made two receptions for 42 yards, including a 29-yard TD catch, in the win at Hampton … made three catches for 36 yards, with a long of 32, in the loss to N.C. Central … closed his career with career highs in catches (five) and receiving yards (108) in the loss at S.C. State … caught a 49-yard TD pass in that game … it marked his first career 100-yard receiving game.

2013 (Junior)
Played in all 12 games … started one time at receiver (vs. Savannah State) … caught 10 passes for 127 yards and one touchdown on the year … also ran two times for 13 yards and returned five kickoffs for 98 yards … totaled 238 all-purpose yards (19.8 per game) … caught two passes in a game four times … had two grabs for 32 yards against Maine … had two catches for 22 yards against Charleston Southern … had a season-high 50 receiving yards on two receptions, including a 33-yard TD, in the win at Morgan State … also caught two passes for 12 yards at Delaware State … returned two kickoffs for 67 yards including a 42-yarder in the win over Savannah State … the 42-yarder was the longest kick return of the year for the Spartans.

2012 (Sophomore)
Played in 11 games and started three times at wideout … also served as one of NSU’s primary kickoff and punt return specialists … was third on the team with 577 all-purpose yards (52.5 per game) … made 11 catches for 106 yards and ran eight times for 20 yards for the season… returned 17 kickoffs for 368 yards (21.6 average) and four punts for 83 yards (20.8) … scored one touchdown on the season, on an 83-yard punt return at Liberty … earned MEAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the punt return at Liberty … started at wideout against S.C. State, Hampton and N.C. A&T … had a season-best three catches for 28 yards against DSU … had two catches against both Hampton and Savannah State … had 85 kickoff return yards with a long of 40 yards a Bethune-Cookman … returned five kickoffs for 140 yards with a career-long return of 59 yards at N.C. A&T.

2011 (Freshman)
Speedy wideout made his mark as a true freshman at NSU … caught 13 passes for 160 yards and one touchdown … also rushed four times for 99 yards … caught his first career touchdown pass, a 44-yarder, on a screen play at Howard … had his best game of the year at Savannah State … caught a career-high four passes for 21 yards … also carried one time for 85 yards on a reverse, the longest running play in school history … caught two passes for 48 yards at Morgan State, including a 48-yard reception.

High School
First-team All-Central District at receiver and defensive back…also first-team All-Central Region and All-Metro at wideout after catching 28 passes for 561 yards and four touchdowns…made 38 tackles and broke up 13 passes on defense…academic all-district selection…caught a school-record 12 touchdown passes as a junior…selected to play in the Virginia High School Coaches Association (VHSCA) All-Star Game following his senior year…also a standout sprinter, Johnson was third in the state Group AAA track meet in the 100 meters with a time of 10.87 seconds his senior year…ran PR of 10.82 seconds in the prelims…was Central Region 100-meter champion.
