Jonathan Dahuya enters his first full year as the Director of Strength & Conditioning for the Norfolk State Athletics Department in 2020-21. In that capacity, he oversees and implements the strength and conditioning programs for all 15 of the Spartans’ athletics teams. Dahuya was hired at the start of the spring 2020 semester after serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at North Carolina A&T.
He spent nearly five years with the Aggies after beginning his time there in May of 2015. Dahuya designed and implemented weight training and speed, agility and quickness programs for men’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf and women’s volleyball while assisting with football. He taught and demonstrated proper weightlifting, polymeric and speed and agility techniques to prevent injury and improve athletic performance. He also assessed, monitored and analyzed annual strength, speed and power measures to revise training protocols as necessary.
Dahuya is no stranger to NSU, having served as a volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach during the 2014-15 athletics season. He was directly responsible for the design and implementation of strength development and conditioning programs for women’s volleyball, women’s basketball and men’s and women’s track and field to improve sport specific performance. He also assisted in the design of football strength programs that included improvements in flexibility, mobility, strength and power development, and with the actual facilitation of football conditioning, speed development and agility drills.
He is Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and certified as a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting (USAW-L1SP). Dahuya is a CPI Certified Level I Coach through the Titleist Performance Institute as well.
He graduated from Old Dominion in August of 2014 with a bachelor's of science in exercise science. During his time as an undergrad, he held internships with ODU, Georgetown and NSU in their sports performance/strength and conditioning departments. Dahuya is currently pursuing a master's of science in sports conditioning and performance from Southern Utah.
