William Wright moves into his 19th year with the Norfolk State athletics department in 2021-22, currently serving as the director of equipment and facilities operations. He oversees all of NSU’s equipment and uniform needs for its 15 Division I varsity sports and the entire athletics department. He also assists with the facility needs for athletics. He also served for six years as the Assistant AD for Facilities and Equipment Operations.
Prior to his promotion to assistant AD in the summer of 2013, Wright held the title of head equipment manager.
Previously, Wright worked as parking supervisor in NSU’s Office of Parking and Transportation. He also served as a security officer at NSU.
A native of Portsmouth, Va., Wright is a Norcom High School graduate, where he lettered in football, basketball and track. He was a member of the 1984 NSU CIAA championship football team.
Wright earned his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a minor in physical education in 1995.
Wright has two daughters, Chequita and LaRey, three granddaughters and five grandsons.
