Biography

   2008 (Junior): Started every game for the second consecutive year…a first-team All-MEAC and third-team Sports Network All-American for the second year in a row…also named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Division I second team…led the team and ranked seventh in the MEAC with 83 total tackles…intercepted four passes and broke up 11 others…tied for third in the conference in passes defended (15)…his four interceptions tied for the fourth-most in the conference…also forced two fumbles for the year, both at S.C. State…had eight tackles, one interception, one breakup and one QB pressure at Kentucky…had a career-high four pass deflections against N.C. A&T to go with seven tackles…recorded seven tackles, one for loss, and the two forced fumbles at S.C. State…tallied 10 tackles at Bethune-Cookman and 11 at Hampton…made a career-high 15 stops, 1.5 behind the line of scrimmage, vs. Florida A&M…also intercepted a pass and broke up two others against the Rattlers…also picked off passes in consecutive weeks against Howard and Morgan State.  
    2007 (Sophomore): Started all 11 games at free safety…named to the All-MEAC first team after being named to the second during the preseason…voted a third-team All-American by The Sports Network…also a first-team All-State Division I selection by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID)…led the MEAC and tied for sixth nationally with six interceptions…snared one interception in six different games…deflected four other passes, giving him 10 passes defended on the season (tied for seventh in the MEAC)…ranked fourth on the team with 55 tackles…also scored eight points on the year…returned a Bethune-Cookman fumble 48 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter of that game…also returned a blocked extra point more than 90 yards for a defensive two-point conversion against Winston-Salem State…made four tackles, one interception and broke up another pass against Virginia State…registered seven tackles against Rutgers…tallied five total tackles and also returned a fourth-quarter interception 36 yards into Bethune-Cookman territory to set up the winning TD…also had interceptions against South Carolina State, Florida A&M, Morgan State and Delaware State…had one of his best games of the year at DSU…was in on a season-high nine tackles, half for a loss, to go with an interception and one pass breakup.
    2006 (Freshman): After missing the first two games of the year due to injury, Whitehead made an immediate impact as one of the team’s top freshmen…played in nine games for the season, starting the last four at free safety…led the team and tied for fifth in the MEAC with three interceptions…also deflected two other passes…made 40 tackles, tied for the most among NSU defensive backs…had 21 solo stops and half a tackle for loss…had interceptions against North Carolina A&T, Morgan State and Winston-Salem State…posted a season-high 11 tackles, half for a loss, to go with an interception, a pass breakup and a blocked extra point against Morgan State…earned MEAC Rookie of the Week honors for his performance in that game…also posted seven tackles against Florida A&M and six against Winston-Salem State. 
    High School: First-team All-Tidewater and All-Beach District his junior and senior seasons…had 81 tackles and four interceptions as a senior…had eight interceptions and 67 tackles as a junior…also started at point guard for the Kempsville basketball team.
