2007-08: Cross Country: The 2007 MEAC individual cross country champion…earned All-MEAC honors for the third straight year, finishing the course in 25:09…ran a season-best time of 25:00, the fastest in the MEAC in 2007, at the Tribe Open, placing second…placed 21st overall in 25:18 at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge in Williamsburg.
2006-07: Named NSU’s Male Athlete of the Year for 2006-07…also presented with the Joseph Echols Memorial Award by the Norfolk Sports Club as NSU’s top athlete for the year…helped the Spartans to an unprecedented second straight sweep of the three MEAC running championships. Cross Country: Finished as the runner-up at the MEAC Championship, running a personal-best 8k time of 25:00…placed sixth at the Lou Onesty Invitational (25:18.40)…ran a time of 25:26 to finish 16th overall at the Pre-Nationals…was 65th at the Paul Short Invitational (25:25). Indoor Track: Was the conference’s top miler, winning the title at the MEAC Indoor Championship in 4:23.51…also placed fourth in the 800 (1:54.82) at the MEAC championship…ran a leg on the winning distance medley relay team and on the 1,600 relay team that placed third. Outdoor Track: Posted three top-five finishes at the MEAC Outdoor Championship…won the 1,500 meters (3:56.81) to qualify for the NCAA East Regional…came in third in the javelin throw (163-05) and fifth in the 800 meters (1:55.23)…came in third in the 1,500 at the Morgan State Legacy Meet (3:55.79)…was fourth in the 400 (49.29) at the NSU Collegiate Open.
2005-06: A key figure in NSU’s sweep of the MEAC cross country, indoor and outdoor track championships. Cross Country: Another of NSU’s All-MEAC runners, Luka finished fourth overall at the MEAC Championship in 24:11.0…took fourth at the UMES Lid-Lifter in 25:59.4…ran a 25:14.6 to take 15th place at the Great American Cross Country Festival…ran a 25:21.3 at the Pre-Nationals. Indoor Track: Came in second in the mile (4:33.82) and ran on the third-place 1,600 relay team at the Coach O Invitational…placed sixth in the mile (4:21.26) and ran a leg on the winning 1,600 relay team at the CNU Invitational…finished fourth in the 800 meters (1:55.89) and ran on the winning distance medley relay team at the HBCU Indoor Classic…helped the distance medley team run an NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time at the HBCU meet (9:40.44)…was second in the mile (4:17.79) and fourth in the 800 meters (1:55.10) at the MEAC Indoor Championship…also ran on the conference championship distance medley relay team as the Spartans captured the conference team title. Outdoor Track: An NCAA national championship qualifier in the 800 meters…placed third at the MEAC Outdoor Championship in the 800 (1:51.97)…finished seventh in the 800 at the NCAA East Regional in a time of 1:51.76, earning him an at-large berth to the NCAA outdoor national meet…won the 800 meters in a personal-best time of 1:49.70 at the prestigious Sea Ray Relays…ran a personal-best time in the 1,500 (3:55.55) at the Duke Relays…ran on the winning 1,600-meter relay team at the Maryland Invitational (3:15.94)…also came in second in the 1,500 and seventh in the javelin at the MEAC Outdoor Championship, earning NSU a total of 20 points en route to the team title.
