Jamie Schulle was hired in January of 2015 to serve as an assistant coach for the Norfolk State softball program. She will work directly with the Spartan pitchers and outfielders.
Â
Schulle finished her four-year NSU career in 2014 as the holder of several school pitching records. She was named to the All-MEAC team in both her last two seasons and was a member of the most successful senior class in the program’s Division I history.
Â
The native of Maxwell, Texas, earned first-team all-conference accolades in 2014 and second-team honors in 2013. She earned a spot on the MEAC All-Tournament team both seasons, including in 2013 when NSU advanced to the championship game. She also was voted to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) all-state second team as a senior in 2014.
Â
NSU finished 98-98 overall and 45-21 in MEAC play during Schulle’s four years with the program from 2011-14, the best four-year stretch in the D-I era. The team’s No. 1 pitcher her last three years, Schulle led the Spartans to just their second-ever MEAC title game appearance in 2013 and the team’s best overall record in 16 years, 31-22.
Â
She finished her career 53-49 overall with a 3.26 ERA. Schulle set program records for appearances (150), games started (117), innings pitched (672.0) and strikeouts (436). She became just the second NSU pitcher ever to garner All-MEAC honors and was twice named to the MEAC All-Academic team.
Â
Schulle graduated from Norfolk State in 2014 with a bachelor’s in health fitness instruction.
