Plummer enters his first year as an assistant coach at Norfolk State in 2025-26. He comes to NSU after spending a season at Elizabeth City State University, where he served as the Head Assistant Men's basketball coach.
"Words can't express how excited I am to join the NSU women's basketball program, and return home to Norfolk," Plummer said. "I am beyond grateful for this opportunity, to continue the tradition of championship success, academic excellence, and commitment to developing strong student athletes makes this incredibly special. I look forward to growing and learning under coach Woods as a coach, while representing the Spartan family with pride."
Plummer spent eight seasons as head men's basketball coach at Maury High School in Norfolk, earning multiple honors: 2022 District Coach of the Year, 2021 Regional Coach of the Year, 2021 Eastern District Coach of the Year, 2019 VHSL Coach of the Year, 2019 Class 5 State Coach of the Year, 2019 Regional Coach of the Year, 2019 Eastern District Coach of the Year and 2018 Eastern District Coach of the Year.
Plummer guided Maury to the VHSL Class 5 State Championship in 2019, finishing with a 26-3 record. He also led the team to a state runner up finish in 2021-22, along with semifinal appearances in 2023-24 and 2022-23.
Before his time at Maury High School, Plummer worked at Booker T. Washington High School as head JV men's basketball coach and head assistant varsity basketball coach.
