2012-13: Indoor: A versatile multi-event athlete, Whitties competed in the 60 meters, 60m hurdles, 200 meters and high jump during various indoor competitions for NSU … qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles at UNC’s Gene Anderson Invitational, where she placed seventh in 9.14 seconds … also competed in the 200m at Penn State Invitational and CNU Captains Invitational, and the 60m dash and high jump at the CNU Holiday Open. Outdoor: Recorded a season-best 400m hurdles time of 1:03.60 at the NSU Relays, where she finished as runner-up … also qualified for the MEAC Outdoor Championship in the same event, registering a time of 1:04.92 and missed out on the finals by one place … ran a leg on the victorious 4x400m relay team at the NSU Relays … member of the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for the spring 2013 semester.

2011-12: Indoor: Competed in the 60-meter hurdles and the pentathlon in her debut season for NSU … placed 12th in both events at the MEAC Indoor Championship … season-best 60m hurdles time was 9.05, good for seventh place at the CNU Holiday Open … ran on the distance medley relay squad at CNU and the 4x400 relay team at UMES’ Coach O Invitational. Outdoor: Ran a leg on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams at the Shamrock Invitational.

High School: All-Southeastern District in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 4x400 relay and long jump as a senior … state Group AAA qualifier in both hurdling events, where she placed eighth in both … helped Western Branch win the state outdoor championship as a senior … ran a leg on the fourth-place 4x400 meter relay team at the state outdoor meet her junior year … placed sixth in the 400 hurdles at the AAU Junior Olympics following her sophomore year.

Personal: Venus Annie Reid Whitties was born on Jan. 10, 1992 … daughter of Meredith Whitties and Vicki Jones-Whitties … majoring in sociology … mother is a former NSU cheerleader and dance team member, and older brother Meredith Jr. played football and track at NSU from 2006-09.
