Ciara Strickland

Ciara Strickland begins her second season as an assistant coach with the Norfolk State volleyball program in 2017. During the course of her first season in 2016, NSU posted a 5-7 conference record and advanced to the MEAC tournament for the first time in three seasons. Norfolk State knocked off rival Hampton twice to earn the tourney berth.

Strickland volunteered with the Spartan program during the 2015 season before becoming an assistant coach the following year. She has also been active in the local volleyball scene.

Since December of 2014, she has assisted in the training and practices for the Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club under current NSU first-year head coach Dave Albaugh. Most recently, the Coastal Virginia U-18 team finished fifth at the 2016 AAU National Championship.

During the 2014 fall season, Strickland served as an assistant coach for Landstown High School. She was also a member of the All-Navy Team during the first half of the 2015 calendar year before volunteering with the Norfolk State volleyball program during the fall of 2015.

Strickland graduated from the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences and is currently working toward an associates in science degree at Coastline Community College. She has been an enlisted member of the Navy since April of 2013.
