Katy Buck Moreno joined the Norfolk State volleyball program as an assistant coach in August of 2014. She arrived at NSU after a stellar collegiate career at Towson.
She compiled more than 1,100 kills and 800 digs in just three seasons with the Tigers, highlighted by her being named CAA Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2011. She was named to the CAA All-Rookie team in 2010 and to the All-CAA first team during her sophomore and junior years in 2011 and ’12.
Buck Moreno also garnered AVCA East Region honorable mention in 2011. She was named to several all-tournament teams during her three year career, including to the CAA All-Tournament team in 2012. She led the Tigers to a 25-4 overall record that season, including a 12-0 mark in CAA play. Towson also finished 23-9 overall and 10-4 in the CAA during her sophomore year in 2011.
Along with her exploits on the court, Buck Moreno was twice named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II first team, in 2011 and ’12. She was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® first team for Division I volleyball in 2012, one of six players nationally to earn the distinction.
She also was named the CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2012 and both the Towson University Scholar Athlete of the Year and Athlete of the Year for the 2012-13 athletics season.
Buck Moreno got her coaching career started at Mount de Sales Academy in Catonsville, Md., serving as the head JV and assistant varsity coach in 2013.
Buck Moreno graduated from Towson in May of 2013 with a bachelor’s of science in biology and a 3.99 GPA.
