2019 (Senior Year): Member of the AD’s Honor Roll in the spring … Played in three sets over two matches … Had a service ace in the season finale, a win over South Carolina State on Nov. 17 … Also played in the match at Morgan State on Nov. 3.

2018 (Junior Year): Named to the MEAC All-Academic Team … Competed in two sets over two matches on the year … Had one dig, that coming against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 7.

2017 (Sophomore Year): Member of the AD’s Honor Roll both semesters and the MEAC All-Academic Team … Played in 12 matches and 15 sets altogether … Had two kills, one service ace and one dig … Had a kill and an ace at William & Mary on Oct. 10 … Also had a kill against Hampton on Oct. 20.

2016 (Freshman Year): Member of the AD’s Honor Roll in the fall … Played in three matches and four sets on the season … Had four digs and one service ace on the year, all coming against Appalachian State on Aug. 27.

High School: Member of the T.C. Williams volleyball team all four years … Had 71 kills, 22 digs and 15 blocks as a senior … Was consistently above a 3.0 GPA.

Club: Competed for the Evolution Volleyball Club her last three years of high school … Played with current NSU teammate Daiysa Burrell.

Personal: Full name is Destine Jeneé Hooker … Born on March 13, 1998 … Daughter of Thea Jackson and granddaughter of Edward Jackson … Has one older sister, Janee Johnson … Mother, father, aunt, uncle and godfather all went to Norfolk State … Father Marlon Hooker and uncle Vernon Allen both played football … Godfather was former NSU quarterback Kermit Buggs … Aunt was a member of the cheerleading squad … Majoring in hospitality and tourism management … Wants to pursue graduate school, and then eventually travel the world while working in the resort/hotel industry … Member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee … Enjoys shopping, going to amusement parks and movies, hanging out with friends, listening to music and a variety of sports.
