GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Norfolk State bowling team made a solid showing last weekend at the MEAC Team Roundup, going 5-7 overall.
NSU (14-28, 12-20) went 3-3 in team games, topping Howard, Hampton and Delaware State. The Spartans' best effort came against the Hornets. NSU eked out an 802-798 win over DSU, thanks in large part to junior Kineshia Irby (Charlotte, N.C.), who knocked down a personal-best 235 pins.
Irby averaged 185.2 for the six team games, the 10th highest average for a MEAC bowler over the weekend. Krystle Caddell (Dallas, Texas) averaged a 177 with a high game of 193.
NSU went 2-4 in Saturday's baker matches, defeating Howard and Hampton.
The Spartans host a MEAC Southern Division competition this Saturday and Sunday at Indian River Lanes in Virginia Beach.
