Spartans Fall 3-0 to Robert Morris

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — The Norfolk State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision, 30-27, 30-18, 30-17, to Robert Morris Friday night in the opening round of the 2007 Comfort Inn Classic at the W.P. Hytche Center on the campus of Maryland Eastern Shore.

For the Colonials (10-4), Amanda Graham had a match-high13 kills, Emily Wolthuis finished with 12 kills and Cassie Lee and Jennifer Stambaugh had 10 kills apiece. Setter Tawnya Storino finished with 40 assists and six service aces.

NSU (3-15) was led by junior Shardonay Blueford (Chesapeake, Va.) who had seven kills. Freshman Heather Quinn (Conyers, Ga.) and junior Yolanda Roberts (Virginia Beach, Va.) each had five kills. Quinn hit a team-leading .455 and did not have any attack errors.

Sophomore Solange Honore (San Fernando, Trinidad) had 18 assists, four digs, two aces, and two kills.

The Spartans return to action at 11 a.m. on Saturday when they take on St. Francis. They wrap up the weekend with a 5 p.m. match against host Maryland Eastern Shore.
