Spartans Fall 3-0 to FAMU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Norfolk State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Florida A&M on Thursday night at the Gaither Athletic Center. The Lady Rattlers took the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match 30-12, 30-19, 30-19.

FAMU (4-5, 2-0 MEAC) was led by Iva Lakic who had 13 kills, two digs and one service ace. Jovana Blazeski had 10 kills and 14 digs, while Zaira Manzo had 34 assists and two aces.

For the Spartans (4-18, 1-1), junior Chantel Cherry (Portsmouth, Va.) had team-highs of eight kills and 12 digs. Freshman Heather Quinn (Conyers, Ga.) hit .333 with six kills, four digs, and four block assists. Sophomore Solange Honore (San Fernando, Trinidad) had all 18 of NSU's 18 assists.

The Spartans continue their travels in the Sunshine State as they take on Bethune-Cookman at 2 p.m. Saturday in Daytona Beach, Fla.
