Men's Basketball Opens Season Saturday at Richmond

Game Notes

NORFOLK, Va. -
The NSU men's basketball team opens its 2007-08 season on Saturday at the University of Richmond. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Robins Center.

The Spartans, coming off an 11-19 season in 2006-07, are led by first-year interim head coach Anthony Evans. NSU finished 10-8 in a five-way tie for third place in the MEAC last season. The Spartans return three starters and nine letterwinners from last season.

Richmond has already played two games this season, splitting a pair of contests in the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic in Memphis, Tenn. this week. UR beat Maine 44-42 on Monday, then lost 80-63 to No. 3 Memphis on Tuesday.

NSU and UR have met just once before, with the Spiders claiming a 67-38 win in the championship of the Spider Invitational during the 2002-03 campaign.
