NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State volleyball team earned the fourth seed in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference southern division and will take part in the conference tournament for the first time since 2004 when all 11 teams made it to the tournament.
NSU (7-25, 3-5 MEAC) will take on northern division top seed Maryland Eastern Shore at 11 a.m. on Friday at Holland Hall on the campus of Hampton University.
Florida A&M earned the top seed in the southern division and North Carolina A&T took the second seed. Morgan State, Delaware State, and Howard wrapped up the second through fourth seeds in the northern division.
The Spartans tied with Bethune-Cookman for third place in the southern division, but the Lady Wildcats won the tiebreaker over NSU based on their record against the highest ranked teams in the southern division conference standings. Both teams were 0-2 against Florida A&M. B-CU split with A&T, while NSU was 0-2 against the Lady Aggies.

Jennifer Fry, won three conference matches this season, sweeping South Carolina State and going 1-1 against Bethune-Cookman. Prior to this season, the Spartans had not won a conference match since a 3-2 victory over Coppin State on Nov. 15, 2003.
