Game Notes

NORFOLK, Va.
– Norfolk State University caps its finest Division I football regular season when it hosts Winston-Salem State University at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dick Price Stadium.

The game has been designated Military Appreciation Day. All active duty military with ID can purchase one general admission ticket for $10 and get three family members in free. There will be a pre-game flyover of two F/A-18 Super Hornets. In addition, members of the NSU Army ROTC who have served in Iraq will be recognized.

Members of the Spartan Youth Club and other youth in attendance will have the opportunity to meet the Spartan football players and coaches at an autograph session following the game. Fans are also asked to participate in the NSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's canned food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia. NSU SAAC representatives will be on hand to collect non-perishable food items.

The Spartans enter the contest with a 7-3 overall record after a 28-21 overtime loss at Delaware State last Saturday in a game to decide the MEAC champion. NSU still has a possibility for an at-large berth into the Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, but needs to defeat the Rams to put itself into position. It will be the final home game for 18 NSU football seniors.

The Rams are 6-4 after a 35-10 victory over North Carolina Central last Saturday. WSSU is not eligible for the MEAC title, but has gone 5-3 against conference teams in 2007.

NSU leads the all-time series 9-8-3 after a 31-14 win last season at Dick Price Stadium.

Fans attending Saturday's game should note that Cruise Ship Parking Lot at Monticello Avenue and Princess Anne Road has been designated for satellite parking for Saturday's game.
